Jane Zisk on Framing Wednesday, October 8th
The general membership meeting of the Newington Art League will be held on Wednesday, October 8th at 6:30 p.m. at the Newington Senior and Disabled Center on Cedar Street. After a brief business meeting, the demonstrator will be Jane Zisk. Ms. Zisk will give a demonstration on Framing, with do’s and don’ts and some examples. Meetings are free and open to the public. Jane Zisk is the Founder of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. Jane was inspired by the American artists who were painting in Cos Cob, Branchville and Old Lyme in the late 1800’s and decided to carry on the plein air tradition made popular by J. Alden Weir, Childe Hassam, and others. Jane, who has been an artist for over 30 years, has also worked as a framer for many years at Hartford Framing in East Hartford, CT. All art whether it is representational or abstract is a spiritual path to Ms. Zisk. Having overcome a chronic illness Jane sees her art as a healing experience.
