Rita Bond to Demonstrate September 10

The general membership meeting of the Newington Art League will be held on Wednesday, September 10th at 6:30 p.m. at the Newington Senior and Disabled Center on Cedar Street. After a brief business meeting, the demonstrator will be Rita Bond. Ms. Bond will give a demonstration on painting a foggy/stormy day. Newington Art League meetings are free and open to the public.

From Rita:

Generally, I’m known for using bold, bright saturated color in my paintings. Lately, the color gray has intrigued me, since it requires the subtle use of color in the landscape. Some of my recent works have included foggy /stormy days, where only a few colors pop out in the landscape. I’ve always loved Rothko’s use of color, so layered and subtle; I’m sure his influence can be seen in these recent paintings.
