Sarah Pollock Pastel Demonstration in April

The general membership meeting of the Newington Art League will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 6:30 p.m. at the Newington Senior and Disabled Center on Cedar Street. After a brief business meeting, the artist demonstrator will be Sarah Pollock.

Landscapes and cityscapes are the favorite subjects of Sarah Pollock, a former color stylist for Walt Disney Feature Animation who now works as a professional artist in central Pennsylvania. She works in soft pastels and oils, with an emphasis on vibrant and expressive colors in her subjects. Sarah often works outdoors, directly on location, and uses her expertise in color and light to capture the many beautiful landscapes around her home. She also finds inspiration in the natural and urban scenes that she encounters while traveling throughout the United States.

Sarah has won numerous awards in competitive national juried exhibitions since she began exhibiting her artwork in 2003. Highlights include having her artwork published in the Pastel Journal’s annual “Pastel 100” competition as well as winning awards in national juried exhibitions in Connecticut and Maryland. Her paintings are part of private collections throughout the country. She exhibits year round at the State College Framing Company and Gallery in Pennsylvania and at the William Ris Gallery in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. She is a past board member and current signature artist member of the Maryland Pastel Society. She is also a member of the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania, where she teaches classes about color and composition.
