Call for Chalk Artists
The annual Newington Water Fall Festival Chalk Walk competition will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 on Market Square in downtown Newington. Sign-in begins at 8 AM at the Newington Art League booth near the Chalk Walk location on Market Square. Artists may begin their work once they are signed in. Drawing must end at 2:00 PM at which time judging will begin. Ribbons and Prizes will be awarded at about 3 pm.
Newington Waterfall Festival Chalk Walk Committee will provide a box of 24 chalk pastels for the chalk walk as well as a carpet square to kneel on and bottled water. There are helpful Chalk Walk tips on the Chamber of Commerce website. Participants must sign in on arrival at the Newington Art League booth on the Chalk Walk to receive their supplies and instructions.
The art will be judged and prizes and ribbons will be awarded to the Adult and Junior winners. Ribbons will be awarded to winners in the Children’s category. Works are judged on overall impact, originality, creativity, color, value, composition and effective use of medium.
