Ed Hicks to demonstrate oil seascape

Following the October 9th, 2019 Newington Art League business meeting at 6:30 pm in the Newington Senior and Disabled Center, Ed Hicks will demonstrate painting a seascape in oil. This demonstration is free and open to the public.
Ed Hicks, graduated from the Vesper George School of Art in Boston and majored in commercial art. He worked as staff artist at John Hancock home office in Boston. Ed also worked in advertising agencies in Hartford and West Hartford for a total of twenty- two years. Acting as Vice president and Art Director in both agencies afforded him a solid academic and Fine Arts foundation. It was a smooth transition from drawing board and board rooms to the easel. Painting has become his second full-time career.
A dedicated artist and art enthusiast, Ed joined Glastonbury Arts and was an active member of the Board of Directors for several years; President of the club five times. He has given many demonstrations, workshops, and talks for art leagues throughout New England.
Now after many years working in the arts, studying the great artists, knowing their work, as a way to inform his own work; he has turned to learning about their personal lives. He has found that in just about all cases, they were colorful, to say the least!
