September 14th features Jane Zisk
The Newington Art League will have a short business meeting on Wednesday, September 14th at 6:30 pm in the Ceramics Room of the Newington Senior and Disabled Center at 120 Cedar St. The meeting will be followed by a demonstration of abstract painting in oil by Jane Zisk. These meetings are always free and open to the public.
Jane Zisk is the Founder of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. Jane was inspired by the American artists who were painting in Cos Cob, Branchville and Old Lyme in the late 1800’s and decided to carry on the plein air tradition made popular by J. Alden Weir, Childe Hassam, and others. Jane, who has been an artist for over 30 years, has also worked as a framer for many years at Hartford Framing in East Hartford, CT. All art whether it is representational or abstract is a spiritual path to Ms. Zisk. Having overcome a chronic illness Jane sees her art as a healing experience.
