Paintings on Display at Newington Senior Center

Works by members of the Newington Art League are currently on display in the glass enclosed cases at the Newington Senior and Disabled Center at 120 Cedar St., in Newington, CT.
Kenneth Rawolle, the Publicity Chairman for the league, has been working with Barbara Womer of the Senior Center and the individual artists to create interesting and attractive displays of each artists work in the glass enclosed cases at the Senior Center.
The first of these display was created in March of 2023. It displays the works of artists Lorraine Ficara, Lynn Koczera and Mary Marsan.

Lorraine Ficara is an award-winning local artist who teaches at Wethersfield Art League. She is an Associate member of Lyme Art Association and a member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society as well as Marlborough, Wethersfield and Newington art leagues. She has demonstrated in Plainville and Avon.
Lorraine’s paintings reflect her travels and loves water. The impressionist style interprets how she feels the surroundings and how the light is captured. Watercolor, acrylics, and oils are the mediums used and knife painting with oil is the favorite. Lorraine loves learning and sharing with other artists and the community.

Lynn Koczera’s creativity began in childhood with a passion for drawing. Her love of art in its many forms continued through high school and college with courses in design, drawing and photography.
Lynn currently works in oil and most recently in pastel. She has exhibited her work at the Fisher Gallery in Avon and with the Newington Art League. It is Lynn’s hope that her work will bring a sense of joy to all.

Artist Mary Marsan’s creative endeavors began in childhood with a love for drawing and painting. After high school, Mary earned a BA in Art Education from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University). She went on to earn a Masters of Divinity degree and spent most of her adult life working as a Catholic professional laywoman and retired from the Archdiocese of Hartford, Office of Religious Education.
Retired life has enabled Mary to pick up her love of art and once again spend time creating work in oil and acrylic. She has explored the technique of acrylic pouring and embellished those works with representational painting and mixed media collage. She also paints in acrylic in an impressionistic style.
Mary has exhibited her work at the Arts Unique Gallery, Avon, the Monastery Gallery in West Hartford, The Fisher Gallery in Farmington and with the Newington Art League.
