The Newington Art League participated in the Town wide art show at the Newington Senior and Disabled Center.
There were 42 pieces in our 2023 Members Spring Show. Karen Israel was our juror of awards. She said she wished we had more prizes to give out as there were so many she liked.
The first prize went to Melanie Stoddard and Peggy McShea Smolack for David, a small portrait of Melanies grandson that they worked on together. Second prize went to Lynn Koczera for her Fall Harvest, a beautiful pastel painting of a basket of apples.
Third place went to Phyllis Small for Deer Crossing, her lovely and colorful oil painting of a shaded path with a deer in the distance.
There were also two Honorable Mention winners. Lois House won for Nana’s Flowers, her watercolor still life of flowers in a vase and Phyllis Small for A Genius, her pencil portrait of Einstein.
Congratulations to all winners and to all who entered the show.
