Suzan Fox to Demonstrate Egg Tempera
Artist Suzan Fox will be demonstrating her techniques in egg tempera painting Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Newington Senior and disabled Center, 120 Cedar St, Newington CT. The demonstration will be in the Ceramics Room and will follow a short business meeting that starts at 6:30.
Suzan says “Growing up in a family of artists, I never really thought of being anything else! ”
After attending Paier and Silvermine, Suzan worked in fashion illustration and advertising layout and design, continuing to freelance for many years in lettering and backgrounds for major comic strips and comic books. This included, Orphan Annie, Juliet Jones, Beetle Bailey, Disney, Dennis the Menace, Marvel and DC. Then back to advertising for another 14 years.
After painting in Gouache for a long time, Suzan went onto Egg Tempera and continued to study with Koo Schadler. “My interest in it actually began when I was a child. I observed my aunt, painter and illustrator Lorraine Fox, mixing pigments with egg yolk. It fascinated me! From that point on it was always in my head to try this strange concoction. It’s the most enjoyable medium for me.”
Suzan now teaches Egg Tempera classes at The Gallery on the Green in Canton, Connecticut.
